Our Story

My name is Heaven Knopf, and Blossoming Butterfly Childcare & Learning Center was born from a calling to serve.

For more than a decade, I worked in the affordable housing industry in compliance, helping working-class families, seniors, veterans, individuals with disabilities, and low-income households access and maintain safe, affordable housing. Through that work, I had the privilege of serving thousands of people and witnessing firsthand the challenges families face every day as they work to build stable and secure lives.

One challenge I saw repeatedly was the lack of affordable, quality childcare available to working parents. Families should never have to choose between providing for their children and ensuring their children are cared for in a safe, loving, and educational environment.

My faith has always taught me that we are called to serve others. Looking back, I believe God used my years in affordable housing to open my eyes to another critical need within our communities: accessible childcare that supports working families and helps children thrive.

When I met my husband, Joshua, I discovered that we shared the same heart for service. Joshua attended Biola University, later completed Montessori training, and earned a postgraduate degree in education. Together, we began discussing how we could combine our professional experiences, our faith, and our passion for helping others into something that would make a lasting impact on our community.

Beyond my professional career, one of my greatest joys has always been caring for others through food. Cooking is one of the ways I express love and hospitality. Whether I am preparing meals for family and friends or volunteering my time cooking and serving at local soup kitchens, I have always believed that food brings people together and allows us to care for one another in a meaningful way.

For me, food is about more than nourishment. It is about dignity, comfort, community, and love.

That belief is woven into the vision for Blossoming Butterfly Childcare & Learning Center. We envision a place where children are not only safe and engaged in learning, but also receive nutritious, home-cooked meals prepared with the same care and attention we would give our own family. We believe healthy meals help children learn, grow, and develop into confident, capable young people.

Blossoming Butterfly Childcare & Learning Center is being built on the belief that every child deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and blossom, regardless of their family’s income or circumstances. Our mission is to provide a safe, nurturing, educational, and affordable childcare option for working families while creating an environment where children feel loved, valued, and encouraged every day.

As we build this dream, we remain committed to serving our community with compassion, integrity, excellence, and faith. We hope to become a trusted resource for working families and a place where children can build a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
